SfSx: Terms of Service is fully funded and then some (just like hustlers should be!)

We did it! We hit our goal and then some. And we couldn't have done it without all SEVEN-HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN of you! Damn, I haven't been to a party with seven people in it for over a year, let alone seven hundred... 

What's next? Well, I'm putting the finishing touches on the six chapter script. G is about halfway through the book's pencils and inks. Kelly is completing colors for Chapter 1 this month, and once she does, Steve gets to start taking a crack at the letters. Laurenn as always is at the helm keeping us steady. Tula's gorgeous wraparound cover is done, and Image is ready to get this book printed and into your hands as soon as it's completed. 

We're gonna be coordinating with BackerKit and White Squirrel to make sure you all get your rewards fulfilled ASAP. And we gotta get to work on that stretch goal zine.

I'm so glad I now have this community of SfSx fans to contact directly with previews, updates, news, and more. Don't hesitate to get at me with questions or comments about what you're looking forward to. I'm so, SO grateful for your support and encouragement!

WE HIT OUR FIRST GOAL OF $20K!!!! 

WITH TWO WEEKS STILL TO GO!!!

The most important thing to know about the $20K goal is that it covers the primary illustration budget for the book SfSx: Terms of Service. We settled on this number as a team because we felt confident we could hit it (damn, it feels good to be right!), and that if we didn’t make a dollar more we would be all good on covering the internal art.

As we’ve mentioned in the FAQ (and as you can read about from countless other comics creators), being published by Image generally means fronting the costs of making a book. The pay-off for this is enormously worth it, especially for indie artists who value owning IP and being able to tell marginalized (queer, sex work, kinky, anti-authoritarian) stories without fear of censorship. But it does put enormous freelance stress and hustle strain on us, especially in a year of unprecedented financial uncertainty.

This is why we’ve designed stretch goals that focus on rewarding all of our amazing backers with more content!

If you've pledged already, you can help by continuing to spread the word! Post on social media, reach out to your friends, let them know they wanna get in on this so you can get more cool stuff!

If you haven't pledged yet, well, hopefully this will incentivize you further by knowing you're gonna get even more than you originally bargained for!

• GOAL: $25K

What you’ll get:

When we reach this stretch goal, every single backer will receive an original digital zine! This was the perfect dovetailing of ideas we'd had percolating and backer requests! This DRM-free PDF will include the SfSx: Issue 1 script written by Tina Horn, backmatter material from Issues 1-7 that is not included in the trade paperback SfSx: Protection (including interviews with Justin Hall, Red Canary Song, and Jacq the Stripper)! It will also include brand new never before seen material focused on the themes of SfSx: Terms of Service by Tina Horn, G Romero-Johnson, Laurenn McCubbin, and more!

What it means for the SfSx team:

This $5K over our initial goal will go towards campaign development and fulfillment expenses (ie getting the swag to your door!) including those inevitable unexpected costs, and extra special productions like the jacuzzi video you’ve all enjoyed so much!

• GOAL: $30K

What you'll get:

When we reach this stretch goal, every single backer will also receive a second digital zine! This is gonna be the really fun one, folks! We’ve stayed grounded in making sure the fundamentals are taken care of, and now we can fantasize! Tina will write new prose erotica set in the world of the Dirty Mind, with spot illustrations by the art team! Tina will also annotate the Issue 3 script! There will be way more BTS art from Terms of Service. And we’re taking requests! What would you want to see in this zine?

What it means for the SfSx team:

At $30K, we will be much closer to being covered on the entire book's art budget in addition to KS campaign costs. That includes coloring, lettering, the wraparound cover, and design. Total transparency: the book will come together this year and the artists will be paid well no matter how much money we raise in this campaign. But hitting $30K means the budget is where we need it ahead of when we need it.

• GOAL: $35K and beyond!

Stay tuned for updates here. There’s a strong chance we can get there with 18 days to go! The first thing that will happen is Tina paying herself. Yes, that’s right, series creator Tina Horn is writing this script on spec, as well as art directing and producing the book, and running this campaign as an investment in this IP.  Many indie creators do this. It’s like running a small business: lots of risk upfront, lots of promise of reward down the line; and most importantly, the freedom of doing the work we wanna do the way we wanna do it. Still, not stressing about making ends meet for the time being would be fabulous!

Friends, fans, readers, sex rebels of all kinds: you are making our pervy dreams come true!

As of 5pm PST March 16th (less than two days after launching), this campaign is 43% funded!!! 

All the work, the research, the stress, the planning, the creative juice, the hope: it all exploded like super-foamy jacuzzi jets yesterday! And those jets continue to spurt today.

Thank you to everyone who pledged, who asked useful questions, who gave friendly advice.   We can't wait for you to get this book.

You can continue to help the project by telling your friends, reposting on social media, and generally spreading the word for the next month. 

We've got a long way to go to raise as much money as we possibly can, and we're already brainstorming what some of our stretch goals might be. What would you all like to see?
